The Maroochydore Northshore Roos will return to Maroochydore’s original colours from this weekend. Players will don the Maroochydore Roos’ historical colours of green and gold, returning to the guernsey of yester-year. Forced amalgamation between the Maroochydore Roos and the Northshore Jets created a new club, which wore blue and white jumpers in their first game in 2005. From this weekend, the Roos will again wear the green and gold, and it is with thanks to major sponsors Northshore Tavern and Goodline that makes this possible. The club has chosen to return to the powerhouse colours of Maroochydore to help reunite club members old and new, and for players to be inspired by the much feared and inspirational Roos of decades past. Club president, Craig Scrase said it was a unanimous decision to return to the much loved colours. “It’s a move that is well supported by players, coaches and administrators at every level,” Mr Scrase said. “Even the juniors, which are a separate club, are excited to see us return to the green and gold.” “The juniors were never forced to change through amalgamation, so they’ve kept wearing the traditional colours.” “The transition to seniors will be much easier for them now too,” Mr Scrase said. The new guernsey will be handed to players after training on Thursday night, April 22, at Fisherman’s Road clubhouse at 8pm. All media and former members are welcome. The Roos will wear their new jumpers on Saturday at the local derby of the Pineapple Hotel Cup. Kick off is at 2pm. (The Maroochydore Northshore Roos 3rds and 2nds will play in the new colours at 10am and 12pm respectively.) The junior games kick off at 9.30 am.
