Rebel Yell- Vic Country Trial.
A great day and a fantastic opportunity presented itself to the under 17 and und under 18 boys at Visy Park, were trial matches for Vic Country were held. Nick O’Brian, Coleman Schache, Scott ‘pretty boy’ Spriggs, Jeremy Cameron and Rory Taggert all pulled on the big V for the under 17 team which faced Vic Metro. All the boys equipped themselves well to the game, as they all stepped up for the challenge and played great football. Will Pomorin, who was also in the squad but couldn’t play due to his ongoing hamstring complaint (heart muscle), and Darcy Watchorn is still away due to AIS commitments. The Vic Country boys had a convincing win in the end over the metro boys, with all Rebels contributing to the big win.
The under 18 game was an intra club hit out played with a very high intensity in extremely warm conditions. The pace and skill level of the game was very high with both teams having a real crack. Tyrone Ross was in dominant form from start to end, racking up endless touches from the midfield in a Chris Judd like performance. Lucas ‘GC’ Cook was in great touch kicking 4 great goals from centre half forward in a really dominating performance from the big fella. The match was a tough tussle all day with players showing all their skills to the Vic Country selectors in perfect conditions. Richard ‘X FACTOR’ Bamblett showed how exciting he is with a fantastic display in the second half from the midfield, along with Tom McDonald who played well in various positions though out the day. Big Jandre Slabbert was ever again consistent in the back line, showing great leadership all day.
The game was a great hit out with all rebel boys presenting themselves well on and off the field. The day was a great experience for all the boys as we all learnt a lot and will hopefully hold us in good stead for the rest of the season for the Rebels.
A good week on the track this week will no doubt see us record our first win of the season against Greater Western Sydney on ANZAC day!!!
