On an overcast warm Saturday afternoon our Tigers took to Weyba Road knowing that Mayne were fresh from a nice win and in fact lead Coolangatta by 81 points at 3/4 time last week.
At quarter time it certainly appeared as if we were in for a game as the Mayne big men looked good and our midfield were under constant pressure. With a 2.4 to 1.4 quarter time scoreline it could well have been a long tight tussle.
In the second quarter however our midfield with Cubby, Jay, Jimmy & Co getting great reward for their hard work and up forward Mick Gafa was on fire kicking 4 majors.
Todd Panoho (on his 19th Birthday) was formidible in his tackling and body behind the ball approach, whilst Matt Roscow was enjoying rebound opportunities and Gary Wallace and skipper Bova were well amongst it.- 7.4 to 1.1 for the 1/4 told the story and the Tigers from the Sunny Coast had breathing space at the long break.
Most impressive in the second half was that our boys didnt drop intensity and in some way we should recognise that Mayne were a respected opponent and will cause some upsets in 2010. But with that intensity came the resulting score rewards as Noosa added 9.5 to 1.4 in the second half with players such as Brooks Durdin and Zac Smith getting on the scoreboard, Tom McKittrick and Luke Brauer pick up good hard ball possessions, and Jesse Hawkesworth, Nathan Spring and Tim Storrer gain confidence in Senior company.
Special mentions to Brett Duke for some great efforts that weren't missed by the Tigers faithful and Steve Simpson who got better as the game went on.
Noosa 2.4 9.8 13.11 18.13 (121)
Mayne 1.4 2.5 3.6 3.9 (27)
Multiple Goalkickers: Mick Gafa 5, Brooks & JR 3 each and 2 each to Zac Smith and Gary Wallace

In the Ressies it was a different story as Noosa hit the ground running to open up a strong lead and didn't look back as they drew away to a 89 point victory.
4.3 to 1.0 in the opening quarter resulted from some great work in tight by Ben Evans and Brendan Clohesy whilst Max Paterson was in everything up forward, Jason Boydle was again impressive in a variety of roles, whilst Chris Burke and Chayse Tilley were rebounding and running impressively.
With Josh Reichman driving the ball forward with long left foot kicks, Josh Withers and Jack Troedel zipping around, and Mick Forden and Joel Sauervein taking strong grabs, our Tigers moved to a 6.8 to 2.1 lead at the half way mark.
Eleven goals to 2 in the second half saw the flood gates open and Noosa dominant. Maxy Paterson (good to see brother Patrik in the side) finished with 6 in an un-collingwood like excellent performance with Jason Boydle and Chris Burke recognised by the Coach as well as a long list of others.
Noosa 4.3 6.8 10.12 17.13 (115)
Mayne 1.0 2.1 3.2 4.2 (26)
Multiple Goals: Maxy 6, Joel Sauervein, Mick Forden & Springy 2
