North Shore travel to Blacktown this week to take on Uni NSW-Eastern Suburbs. All three grades will be in action.
The Venue
Blacktown Olympic Park is the new Sydney AFL stadium, those who were with the club last year will recall North Shore’s Under 18s taking out the premiership there. The ground will also be the training venue for Team GWS when they enter the AFL in 2012; and during this year’s pre-season hosted an AFL NAB Cup game between Sydney and Carlton as well as a trial between Sydney and Essendon. The stadium has a grandstand on the western side with plenty of seating, and grass hills around the remainder of the ground. Plenty of car parking is present on-site. The main stadium will host the Premier Division game at 4:00pm.
Next to the main stadium is the Number 2 Oval, which will host the First Division match at 1:30pm and the Under 18s match at 11:30am.
Getting There
If your car has a tag and you don’t mind paying tolls, the M2 & M7 will get you there very quickly. Take the M2, continue along the M7 until the Power St exit. Turn left and follow the street till the end, and turn right at Knox Rd. After the road crosses over the railway line, take the next street on the right (Eastern Rd); you will see the ground from there.
The M7 does not accept cash tolling, so if you don’t have a tag or don’t want to pay tolls, the M4 is now toll-free. Head west and join the M4, and take the Walgrove Road exit. Turn right and continue past Great Western Highway. A couple of kilometres up the road, turn right at Eastern Road, this is signposted by a blue Blacktown Olympic Park sign. The ground will soon become visible on your left.
If you’re going by public transport, allow plenty of time. Trackwork between Strathfield and Parramatta will require you to change to a bus and back onto a train. Continue two stations past Blacktown to Rooty Hill. Take the southern exit, walk down Rooty Hill Road and turn left at Eastern Road.

Our Opponents
UNSW-ES have been a strong club in recent years, and played off in last year’s grand final. But they struggled in the opening round this year, and were beaten by over 90 points by East Coast Eagles. Never a side to be taken lightly, they will be keen for redemption and our teams will need to be at their best to ensure victory.
