The Lismore Swans were downed by the Tweed Coast Tigers in Pottsville in a disappointing performance on the weekend. The Swans seem they are yet to really kick into gear and get the motor firing. The Swans will need to turn it around this weekend when they take on rivals Byron at home.
The Swans kicked against the breeze in the first quarter and held the Tigers to be 5 points down at the first break with some hard work by the backine, midfield and Eddie at half forward. Kicking with the breeze in the second it took the boys a bit to get gowing before displaying 15 minutes of brilliant football to put 5 goals on the board and to lead by 20 points at half time. Wes showed his worth up forward kicking 4 goals for the term.
The third quarter against the breeze was terrible as Tweed put the goals on the board, taking a 10 point lead into the final break. The backline seemed to struggle with the size of the Tweed forwards. The Swans had to lift in the final term however allowed the Tigers to kick a few goals before getting the quarter started as the Swans went down by 19 points.
The Swans need to regroup for next week and get into second gear. Final score Swans 11.12-78 Tigers 14.13-97
Best on the day were Eddie Burton, Daniel Moloney, Wesley Seewald, Shaun Wadwell, Jason Bevan and Mitch Montgomery
Goals went to Wesley Seewald 6, and singles to Eddie Burton, Ethan Lenson, Mitch Montgomery, Alex Aitken and Jason Bevan.
