Our young Saints were pretty damned ferocious in the opening term laying tackles not seen here for a while, running with purpose and taking on the Blues at EVERY opportunity .... even putting the first major on the scoreboard .... had to have been the magnificent pre-match address from Garry.
Must have frightened the bejingers out of a confident Epping and Mario Bandera let them know too.
Divide and concquer was the message and that's just what the PINGERS did .... our leaders were MIA for a much of the game, Amir out with a leg injury and Corey suffering a shoulder injury.
J.P. & Ace never gave in but the youngest players stepped into the breach ... Eldon, Crawf, Barney and Jazz were workmanlike and just kept giving !
If there is a positive to come from the game, then it's the younger players amongst the group ... seems like the darkness won't last if we keep these young battlers around the place.
Two's weren't in the game at all ... youngsters in there again ... Housey, Luke Gaylor Jamie "Bas", Joulesy were ably led by the "older" trio of Christian, Bucks and Nev was our only goalscorer.
Under 19's were the best of sad story for the CLub this weekend with a score that totalled more than the our other footy teams combined.
Funny thing ... it was the younger players that stood up as well ... Brayden, Stephen & Demis ably supported by the "older blokes" ... Barney Jnr, Dave Bilusic and Perra Jnr.
Netball euphoria following the grading games was quickly extinguished on Friday night with our girls getting rolled 24 to 8 against MerndaB
However, our girls worked hard ALL OVER the court, never gave in anywhere and quite simply, were beaten by a better team.
Olivia probably stood out but the girls really do work as one.
This weeks game is at 7:45 against Epping who are coming off the Bye for their first game of the season.
