The Lismore Swans have defeated the Swans in very warm conditions in the first match of the season. In a physical encounter the Bombers flew early kicking the first 2 goals of the game before the Swans turned into gear. The Swans overall performance was good, as all players shared the work load with not too many standouts. The Swans kicked 4 goals to 2 in the first quarter, then repeated in the second quarter as they kicked 5 goals to 2 to produce a comfortable lead at half time.
The heat took its toll on the players in the third quarter, this was evident with tired players all around the ground. The Swans managed 3 major in the third term to Ballina's 2, and finished with 4 goals to 1 in the final term.
Overall it was a good performance for the first hit out in extreamly warm conditions. The Swans will now look forward to taking on the Tweed Coast Tigers in Pottsville next Saturday.

In the Nimbin game, the Swans first gamers improved as the game went on in another hot game. Coolangatta were too strong for the Nimbin side in the end kicking 24.26-170 to 7.11-53.
