Tigers v Byron @ Schulz
Oval, Bangalow
The Tweed Coast Tigers
commence their 2010 Season this weekend with Rd 1 against the reigning premiers
Byron Magpies at Bangalow on Saturday 2pm.
The last time these two
sides met in the final round of 2009 season proper, the Tigers handed the
Magpies their worst defeat in 15 years, thrashing them by 59 points in front of
a large vocal home crowd at Tigerland, Pottsville.
However the Tigers then failed to get over Lismore in the semi finals and the
Magpies bounced back to win the 2009 flag, a testament to their strength as a
club.
This weekend will be the
first time the Tigers have played at Bangalow due to wash outs last season and
the lads are ready for a tough match and a loud Byron support crew.
The Tigers have worked
hard in the offseason and whilst some players have moved on the club has picked up several very handy players over the break, who are
raring to earn their Tiger stripes this season.
Byron touched up an under
strength Tigers at Nimbin’s preseason comp last weekend, however in the word’s
of Tiger’s Coach Shags “You don’t want to show your cards too early!” and the
Tigers will be nearly full strength this weekend and ready to take on the
challenge of the reigning premiers on their home turf.
This will be a great way
to start the season.
All Tigers supporters are
encouraged to journey to Bangalow to support the Team.
And so it begins the march
to the 2010 Premiership Flag, do the Tigers have what it takes?
Only time will tell…..
