In our last bulletin we announced the entry of FIVE TEAMS into the competition this year, registering our seniors, reserves, thirds, fourths and Under 19s. Since then, there has been much discussion between the Playing Group, coaches and committee about getting this fourth team off the ground. Player numbers have been increasing, but our issues relate to ground access and off-field help for all of these teams to go ahead.
We’re on the case with Ground Access and have been working in several different options on this front, but again put the call out to all Friars Faithful who would like to lend a helping hand. While we certainly received a buck-up from the response in recent days of those willing to assist, more volunteers are still needed to throw their hat into the ring. Remember, a season-long commitment isn’t necessarily required – assistance at half a dozen games throughout the year would be a fantastic help. Football knowledge is not a prerequisite and you could be involved in roles such as umpiring, timekeeping, acting as an interchange steward, team managing etc. If you’d like to help, please contact:
Particular thanks to:
· Phil Thomson who had put his hand up to umpire our Thirds during the year (and did a superb job at short-notice for our Monash games).
· Garry Feutrill for offering to run the BBQ on Old Geelong Super (pre-season) Saturday
· Rob Nolan and Dan Tucker (and his entourage) for offering their assistance with the 3rds and 4ths
Of course nothing makes us happier than seeing new and returning players to the club – if you want to get involved please don’t hesitate to contact us:
...but make it quick – in case you haven’t heard the season is starting soon!!
