Our Club opened it's doors to the Heathmont Jets and South Croydon Junior Football Clubs last Sunday to enable well over 300 boys and girls play in practice matches. The age groups ranged from under 9's to under 16's. It was a successful day and the manner in which the Clubs used and looked after our facilities ie, ovals, change rooms and surrounds etc, was a credit to both clubs.
The "long" day ran very smoothly with Gavan Harkin as our "point of contact" for both Clubs and with Lou Belli in charge of the canteen our Club was able to clear approximately $1800 profit from canteen sales and the sausage sizzle.
We are indebted to the following members who turned up to assist : Gavan Harkin, Lou Belli, Dave Whitehead, Greg Toomey, Damien O'Loughlin, Jeremy Djurovich (1st season at our Club), Mick Niezen, Mick Jess, Paul Fringuelli, Chris Williams, Tim Olarenshaw, John Jess, Alan Love, Josh Stewart and Barry Jess.
We have two more important fund raising activities scheduled within the next two weeks and we require support from other members to ensure that these activities are also successful.
- Next Sunday 28th March we will be doing exactly the same as we did last Sunday except the Junior Football Clubs involved are East Ringwood and Vermont. We require members to help out (if possible a 3 hour shift) between 7.30am and 5.30pm. Our organiser for the weekend is Barry Jess, Mob. 0418 314849 or bjess@bigpond.net.au
- On Easter Sunday 4th April we have been offered the use of the "Community Fundraising BBQ" facility at Bunnings on Middleborough Road in Box Hill. We also require members to help out (3 hour shifts) between 8.30am and 5.30pm. If you want to volunteer to help with this fundraiser you can also contact Barry Jess.
Please give these two important fund raisers some thought. As a Club we ought to be very grateful that all the members who helped out last Sunday "did not leave it up to someone else".
