The 2009 Berry Powell Medal Count
James McNamee wins Senior Football B & F
Jane King & Ash Lierich R/U Senior Netball
The Bendigo Bank Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League held the Berry Powell Medal count with 300 people in attendance at the Highland Society on Monday evening.
A very close and exciting finish saw James McNamee of the Dunolly FNC win the Berry Powell Medal with the last vote card of the evening from Mark Oxley of Newstead by two votes with Julian Field of Avoca one vote further back. McNamee, Oxley and Field were all level on 25 votes leading into the last vote card of the night in which Newstead played Dunolly. Oxley polled one vote to take the lead, only to see McNamee trump him with the final three vote of the evening to take out the award.
McNamee finished the season very strongly by polling maximum votes in the final six rounds of the home and away season. The Dunolly Coach has been an inspirational leader this season. He has a very strong work ethic and continually knocks up getting the ball. McNamee is an exceptional strong mark who uses the ball to the advantage with every possession he accumulates. He is a very worthy winner of the Berry Powell Medal for season 2009.
Jane King and Ash Lierich finish runner up in the A Grade Netball Best & Fairest award

Jane King wins A Grade Goal Shooting Award
Kelsey Lacey finishes third in the B Grade Netball Best & Fairest which was won by Jasmine Rimene of the Maryborough Rovers Football Netball Club. Kelsey received 16 votes and she is a young player with a great future in the sport. She also polled votes in A Grade as well. Trudy Manning finished in fourth position with 15 votes.
The Administrator of the Year was won by Vicky Tierney.
This prestigious award really capped off a great night for the club. It recognises the turn around that has occurred at the club over the last few years. Vicky has done an amazing job as Secretary and anyone who attended the Golden Era Reunion would have been equally impressed by her catering abilities.
Vicky has not only coached and played Netball at Dunolly but also undertaken the role of Secretary with great determination. Vicky worked extremely hard to ensure that Dunolly could play their host of prized recruits at the commencement of the season while busily preparing the Netball season at the same time. In addition to this Vicky has ensured that the Dunolly FNC received positive media coverage throughout the state, organizing many interviews and articles on the club to run in local and state media alike.
