In Retrospect September 20th 2008
Today is the culmination of a good year for the Dunolly football Netball Club. Our senior football team has had a better year than previous years and many clubs can see that Dunolly has taken the first step in the right direction. Everyone at the club is excited as to what should be an even better year next year. With new committee members and players being sought there is already a buzz around the club.
A big thank you to Daniel, Bluey and Geoff for coaching the seniors, reserves and under 17 teams this season. It takes a lot of time and effort to coach and you guys have done a great job.
Our netballers have had a great year both on and off the court. Unfortunately our under 15 team didn’t make the finals. Congratulation to Sarah reeves who has put in a lot of time and effort coaching the girls who have all improved throughout the season.
Whilst the Under 17 team bowed out last Saturday in the Preliminary final they played a great match and took it right up to Maldon who are a very good side. Congratulations to Ashlee Edwards and Ashlee Lierich for doing a great job coaching the girls.
What a great effort from our senior teams. Having both teams playing in the grand final is a credit to our hard working coach, Vicky. All players have worked hard throughout the season to get to this point. With the injection of some new faces to the club the local players have stepped up to the challenge and many players have improved and become more confident on the court. All players have become great friends both on and off the court and I am sure a great time will be had next week in Hobart.
Regardless of whether we win or lose today, you have done a great job and the Dunolly community is extremely proud of you.
Two Premierships for Dunolly in MCDFNL Netball
The A grade final was played between the second and third placed sides, Dunolly and Avoca. Avoca was coming off a weeks rest while Dunolly had comfortably defeated Carisbrook in the preliminary final. Both teams started well with goalies accurate despite the swirling wind conditions.
