RUSSELL GREEN MEMORIAL MATCH

The annual Russell Green Memorial match will take place this Saturday afternoon at 4pm between the Western Taipans U/18 Team and a Western Magpies U/21 side. This now annual clash between the Taipans and Magpies is a vital warm up for the Taipans as they finalise their squad for the Queensland U/18 Development Championships in March. The Taipans side will involve many young Magpies who will looking to impress coach Paul Grentell as well as Taipnas staff to earn a spot in the final squad for the Championships.

For many of the Magpies players it is their first chance to put a long 5 months of pre-season traing to the test in 2010 and blow out some cobwebs. The Magpies have been permitted two overage "ring inns" for the game who will be Magpies captain Chris Mihalopoulos who will test his reconstructed knee for the first time and will only play a half. The other will be international recruit Bryan Dragus from Claifornia who will play his first game for the club and only his ninth all time.

The game starts at 4pm at Sherwood Football Club 41 Chelmer St East, Chelmer.
