The committee of the Mt Burr United Football Club put forward a proposal to the Mid South East League Executive and MSE Clubs in the middle of the 2009 season to possibly implement a Pre Season Cup for the start of the 2010 season.
The idea of a pre-season cup fixture is to give all clubs a hit out prior to the season starting and enable all clubs to get together before the first game.
The pre-season cup will be held each year, 2 weeks prior to round 1 and conducted on an alphabetical rotation. As Mt Burr has proposed the Cup they will hold the first day.
2010 Mt Burr , 2011 Nangwarry , 2012 Pt Mac. , 2013 Robe, 2014 Tantanoola, 2015 , Glencoe, 2017 Hatherleigh, 2018 Kalangadoo, 2019 Kongorong.
Starting at 10.00am , the format for the day will be each game to be 2 x 15 minute quarters with a 5 minute half time break with sides to remain on the oval. As there are 9 clubs, the previous year’s grand final winner will be elevated straight to Round 2. The remaining clubs names will be drawn from a hat to make up the first 4 games. The highest losing team from round 1 will get a second chance in round 2. The highest winner in round 2 will go straight into the grand final and play the winner from the Round 3 game. The winning club would receive a trophy and a winner’s cheque of $500.00 dollars.
The Netball Clubs will hold their own Pre Season Cup with a trophy and prize money for the winning club.
It will be a great promotional day for not only the MSEFL but for football in general and encouraging Healthy Clubs.
This will be a great family day out, having all the clubs together supporting each other in both Football and Netball and showing the general public how strong the Mid South East League is.
