It’s the battle of the Tigers in Brisbane this Saturday as the top of the table Noosa Tigers take on the cellar dwellars mayne from 2pm at Everton Park.
Noosa will be out to secure a home second semi final with a victory over their tiger rivals after a sluggish but effective 11th straight win over Grange in Brisbane last weekend.
Noosa took a long time to shrug off the tenacious Grange with Page, Isles,Laskey, Matthews and Echuca recruit Kennaugh impressive for the tigers.
Mayne ,on the other hand, were super impressive in their win over Surfers with key players Houseago and Brown among their prime movers once again.
Whilst Mayne have been disappointing in the past, they have been known to be giant killers and and I`m sure noosa coach Wayne Fletcher will have a real and honest focus of what has to be done this weekend.
The carrot is fantastic.A win at Mayne and the boys guarantee themselves a week off and a home Second semi final in front of a massive pro Noosa crowd for a place in this years PHC grand final.
Brett Duke,Todd Panaho,Tom Mckittrick and Burke all missed the Grange win last week so competition for spots is as hot as it can get. A great position for the match c`tee to be in.
The reserves also have hit some form and must win their last 2 games and hope Surfers drop one to sneak into the 2010 finals. A big win against Mayne on Saturday would certainly not do their chances any harm.Roo Stewart,Tilley and Trodel continue to display consistent performances for the 2nds wilst big man Billy Daugalis shown with another big game in their 10 goal demolition of Grange.
Whilst many a Tiger spectator thought the noosa boys a little sluggish last weekend,it must be remembered that 4 of their star on ballers played 7 games of footy representing the State the previous weekend and the Tigers have been up for a long time with it being their 11th win on the trot. Only big games to come for the tigers in season 2010 starting this Saturday at Mayne and a big carrot to play for.
The Doug Murray cup continues to gather momentum and will be a fantastic way for tiger past players to celebrate on August the 14th.Game starts at 10am followed by presentations and live music with the legendary Tuffy from 6pm after the Noosa vs Maroochy/Northshore clash.A full list of teams will be available on our website from next Thursday night.
Danny O`Briens Under 18s finished their 2010 fixture campaign with a very impressive 10 goal win at Weyba rd last Sunday against broadbeach. The tigers cubs sit equal on top in the best competition in the State and at this stage will play the Western magpies in Brisbane on August 14th in a second semi with the winner advancing directly through to thre grand final. A great season thus far boys with the business end well and truly here.
Great time of the year for footy fans
