Seniors:
We welcomed Panton Hill to Pitcher Park last week and had a good win which can only give Pistol Pete a good selection dilemma with so many guns to come back in the side especially Friel and Sabelberg. After wrapping up top spot the week before last gave us a chance to rest the good players; Brad Hockey still got a game to try and find some form before the finals started but we think he is still looking for it. Sammy Mills, better know to his misses as ‘tussington’ had around 30 shots at goal, however only managed to hit the night club door twice. Magilla played on the leading goal kicker and was doing so well he even made their water boy cry. However it’s safe to say the Hill fans behind the goals were not his biggest fans as he copped it all match after that. This wasn’t the only water boy issue of the day, after Jamie Gresham pulled on the light blue t-shirt to run the water and caused a huge commotion at quarter time with our very own umpire escort. What are you trying to prove Gresh, just what are you trying to prove? Lucky Allan and Jamie kissed and made up and we will still have an umpire escort in the future. Hendo was doing well until his massive biceps were causing chafing problems, apparently he didn’t apply enough oil to his massive Neil Balme’s. Mad Max did well to back up and play his second game for the day which takes his yearly tally to 3 games in a clever ploy to qualify the lad for finals. He wasn’t the only player to play two games as Jmac chipped in as well and threw his weight around. Gilbo also made a successful come back after a trip to Thailand. He looks like he really enjoyed himself and really got stuck into the mi goreng. The boys are a bit worried about him though as he got yet another tattoo but it was from those dodgy blokes on the side walk and we think he might need to be tested for the hepatitis alphabet. Onto today and everyone will be pumped to take on Hurstbridge, with the winning team rewarded with a week off to prepare for the big dance. Good luck to all involved.
Reserves:
With so many players going up into the ones it was great that they still managed to get a win to propel them into what we hope will be a lengthy and successful finals campaign. You would have thought that this would give the Seagull more of a chance to rip some faces off, although it was not to be. He did however do a good job of keeping the bench nice and warm. Shannon Mac dug his mouth guard out of the ground after spitting the dummy last week to bag three ‘6 pointers’ and was a match winner in the second half. This week Libba plays his 200th game for the club; it’s lucky he came down as a skinny bugger, because it looks like the 5th generation spaghetti eater has put on at least one kilo per game he has played since he first joined. Liam ‘Dingers’ Bell arranged for a midweek media meeting in front of the canteen to announce his retirement after doing his ACL in the first 10 minutes of the match, however, no one from the media or Parkside was in attendance to wish him all the best in his future endeavours. The two’s play at Epping on Sunday, all seniors will be down there to support the boys and we hope to have as many supporters down there as well.
