MMAD Swim incorporates 3 events: 200m Nippers 9.30am, 400m Novice 10.00am and the feature race a 1.2km MMAD Swim at 11.00am. Swimmers assemble from the Mount Martha Life Saving Club and the MMAD Swim feature race takes in a challenging but enjoyable 1.2 km open water swim back to the club.
This year there will be a 'non-wetsuit' category for those hard core ocean swimmers up for the challenge! There will be lots of action on the beach with a roving MC and 'spot' prizes throughout the race day.
The cost to enter is on our website: www.mmadswim.com
How early do I need to be there?
Registration is online (up to 24 hours before the race) so when you arrive at MMLSC you will need to go upsatirs at the clubroom on the day of the event to collect your registration bag from 8.30am until 10.30am. Make sure you arrive early as parking is at a premium in the area and competitors can experience difficulty finding a park after 9am. Nippers and families are encouraged to arrive between 8.15-8.30am to secure parking and leave adequate time for registration and preparation before Nippers race at 9.30am.
Changing and gear
There is a gear tent in front of Mount Martha Life Saving that is available to swimmers to place their belongings whilst they swim the event. Items must be in your registration bag. Please do not put valuables in your bag as we accept no liability for loss.
You need to be at the waters edge MMLSC 15 minutes prior to your race time.
If this is your first time swimming in the event be aware of the following:
- It is very busy at the beginning of each wave and you can get kicked
- Take your time during the race to get your bearings
- If distressed, put your hand up & make a fist, someone will come to you
Completely cross the timing mats and proceed up the beach. There will be water available on the beach and in the MMLSC canteen at the clubhouse. Gear can be collected and there is a public toilet block on the foreshore to use for changing facilities beside the clubhouse.
