WA 9.3 (57) def SA 2.7 (19)
In a crucial game to decide who goes through to play Victoria in the Grand Final, SA came out the hardest but could only convert 3 behinds to WA’s 1 shot on goal for a major.
With the wind starting to pick up to WA’s advantage in the second, SA scrambled to keep the surging black ducks from scoring.
Tiah Haynes kicked a cracker of a goal from the point post to put WA up 4 goals straight to SA’s 3 points.
After some attacking play SA managed to force the ball up into their forward line to Hayley Smith who kicked a solid goal into the breeze 35m out.
The breeze proved the difference in the second quarter with WA pushing away to 6 straight goals to SA’s 1 goal 3 despite some fantastic manning up from the croweaters.
The third quarter ebbed back and forth with some strong shepherding and physical footy between the two teams as WA fought hard to keep SA from scoring with the wind.
Sabrina Traub from WA provided some good targets for the WA midfield as SA went to the third quarter break trailing the sandgropers 2.7.19 to 7.1.43.
With the wind in the last quarter, WA put good pressure on SA’s defence and could only come up with the two goals for the 15 minute period.
A great fight by SA who will go into tomorrow’s play off against Qld as favourites after some awesome football displays.
