IN the initial 35-man squad from which the Australian Football Indigenous Team of the Century was named, six of the eight Australian States and Territories were represented.
In recognition of the game's spread across the country from its origins in Victoria from the 1850s onwards, no fewer than 21 of those selected in the final team were from outside Victoria; eight of those selected in the team played their entire careers outside the original Victorian Football League (forerunner to the AFL) and eight of the 26-man team are current-day footballers.
