Redlands United have set the benchmark for the final spot in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals with a convincing 3-0 win over Brisbane Roar Youth at Cleveland Showgrounds.

Graham Fyfe struck a goal in each half for the hosts – including a stunning thirty-yard opener - while Delors Tuyishime chimed in with his maiden PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues goal  to lift the Red Devils into fourth place on the table.

The hosts pushed without further reward until the last with goal difference likely to prove crucial in the finals race, while goalkeeper Brendan White also effected a late save to maintain a crucial key sheet.

Redlands’ win now puts the pressure on fellow finals aspirants Brisbane City and Olympic, who must win their final fixtures of the regular season – on Saturday and Sunday, respectively - if they are to qualify for the post-season.

For Young Roar, the result concludes an underwhelming close to their PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 season – posting just one win since the start of July.

Young Roar will now turn their focus to the upcoming Foxtel National Youth League campaign.

What They Said

“I think a clean sheet was the most important thing. We’ve done the job we needed to do. We haven’t conceded and we scored three – three-nil is a good win for any team. That’s what we’ve done tonight and I couldn’t ask for any more from the boys. So let’s see that when we meet again on Monday for our last session before heading to Canberra for the FFA Cup that we are also in the playoffs.” – Matt Chandler, Redlands United FC coach

“We knew coming here that Redlands had to win to get as high as they could. We were well prepared and we got a good side on. But full marks to them – they really were physical but fair physical and they are a good side with a good coach. Apart from that it was a bit disappointing because we probably deserved a bit more. But that’s life and we move on. “ – John Sime, Brisbane Roar FC Youth coach
