Moreton Bay United technical director Adam Piddick says an upcoming run of home fixtures is a major boost to his club’s bid to climb the ladder.

Jets’ hosting of Brisbane City on Saturday night marks the first of eight matches at Wolter Park throughout the second half of the season.

Piddick, who led the club to a premiership-championship double in 2015, believes the schedule can spark the sixth-placed Jets into another title tilt.

“I think the home run is a real positive for us,” Piddick said.

“The boys love playing here at Wolter Park. The crowd gets behind us, a nice field and the spectators are close which is good.

“We haven’t been at our best and we’re only three points off second so if we can get somewhere near our best we’ll hopefully be in with a shout.”

The atmosphere will be at its most intense on Saturday night as the hosts welcome John Kosmina’s fifth-placed City in a Brisbane derby.

Though he describes the match as “massive for both clubs,” it’s another Brisbane side which has impressed Piddick most.

“I think the best footballing side at the moment is Strikers. They’re playing good stuff and they have some good footballers,” he said.

“There’s a different dynamic up at Far North Queensland, they’re more counter attacking, sit in and get you on the counter, which is challenging for players and coaches because it’s not all the same style.

“It’s good to see other teams making the comp more difficult and makes you think more as a player and coach.”
