Brisbane Strikers confirm three further re-signings, including dynamic attacker Jheison Macuace, for the 2015 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season.

Recruited from Redlands United prior to the most recent campaign, the 22-year-old Colombian was recognised as Supporters’ Player of the Season in 2014 and scored eight goals in 23 appearances.

Macuace said Strikers’ attacking style of play was a significant factor in his decision to return for another season at Perry Park.

“I feel good there, actually, because the supporters and the people at Perry Park like the way I play” Macuace said.

“So it’s good for me – it’s becoming my home ground.  It’s very good and makes me happy to play there”.

He added that he wasn’t concerned about the additional responsibility in front of goal following the departure of Strikers all-time leading goalscorer Matt Thurtell to PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria club Bentleigh Greens.

“There’s always pressure, but I don’t think of it as pressure.  It is motivation to work harder and try to be patient when I have the opportunities to finish,” Macuace said.

Also returning for Strikers in 2015 are midfield duo Keenan Duimpies and Michael Angus, who is the club’s longest serving player and a previous member of Brisbane Roar’s National Youth League side.

Strikers coach Kevin A’herne-Evans indicated the trio will be key figures in the club’s 2015 campaign, in addition to returning goalkeeper Michael Turnbull.

“Gus and Keenan are both players that have always impressed me when analysing or playing against the Brisbane Strikers and, in Gus’ case, for longer,” A’herne-Evans said.

“And then we have Jheison Macuace, who is a player who provides us with that ‘x-factor’ and unpredictability that defenders fear.”

“These players will help ensure we are strong through the spine or core of the team but are only four of a very hungry and committed group of players Ken Armstrong and I have been working with over the past month.”

“We intend to make more announcements over the next week or so,” A’herne-Evans concluded.
