SWQ Thunder fell to their first defeat of the pre-season after being comprehensively defeated 4-0 by Eastern Suburbs FC in the BLK Silver Boot on Sunday.

Easts struck twice in the closing stages to blow out the margin, however the Brisbane Premier League side were rarely threatened throughout the contest.

Thunder went behind inside ten minutes when Carter Glockner was released by a lobbed pass before delivering a neat finish across Thunder goalkeeper Luke Borean.

The momentum and chances remained with Easts but they couldn’t add to their advantage before the break – a series of lacklustre finishes rarely testing Borean further.

However, Easts’ perseverance found reward only minutes after the restart when Toru Amano turned in a cut-back from Glockner from close range to double the advantage.

Borean continued to keep his side in the contest with a series of sharp saves as the half progressed but Thunder spurned a pair of chances to pull a goal back – Kimba Kibombo twice striking the post before Majok Piok headed wide of the target.

Easts finished strongly to make sure of the result in the final minutes - Andy Coyne delivering a first-time finish from a cross near the penalty spot before Glockner sealed his brace by pouncing on a parried save from Borean in time added on.

Thunder continue their pre-season preparations against BLK Silver Boot hosts Lions FC next Sunday.
