Strikers End Olympic’s Finals Hopes

Brisbane Strikers have put an end to Brisbane Olympic’s finals hopes after a 2-1 victory at Goodwin Park.

A win for Olympic would have moved them into third-place, however Fraser Eller’s fantastic performance for Strikers included two goals, which was too much for the home side to handle.

A goal from Kristen Waters gave Olympic the final 20 minutes to score an equaliser and keep their season alive, as only one point was required to stay in the top-four.

Instead they have finished fifth on 40 points, after both Moreton Bay United and Western Pride won their games this week to move ahead onto 41.

Strikers have finished as minor premiers and will carry their winning form into next weekend’s semi-final clash with fourth-placed Moreton Bay.

The other semi-final will be played between second-placed Gold Coast City and third-placed Western Pride.
