GGC Triumph In Tense Battle

Gold Coast City FC

Gold Coast City have secured a tight 1-0 victory against Western Pride FC at Mallawa Complex on Sunday afternoon, as they look to mount a mid-season climb up the ladder.

Both sides had a number of chances, but Jayde Lowe's pinpoint goal proved the difference, as she beautifully chipped an unfortunate Kirsten Veeren.

Pride might consider themselves unlucky after a flurry of near misses at the end of the match, but City keeper Ellen Hepburn stood tall in a hard fought win.

City host University of Queensland FC next weekend in another crucial fixture, while Pride travel away to Souths, still looking for their first win.

Key Moments

31' - CHANCE FOR GCC - Ena Tsuzumi shows good feet on the edge of the area before powering her effort straight at Pride keeper Kirsten Veeren.

50' - CHANCE FOR GGC - Neesa Doyle beats her marker and forces a strong save from Veeren from a close angle.
