Ruth Blackburn scored a captain's double to lead The Gap Women to a 2-1 win over Gold Coast City Women at Duncan McKenna Field on Sunday afternoon.

Blackburn's second goal hit the back of the net just as the clock struck 90 minutes, handing Gators a late victory and extending their winning streak to an insane 29 matches.

Jayde Lowe's looping header had pulled Gold Coast level but the home side was ultimately unable to hold out against the two-time reigning premiers.

The Gap are at home against Souths United Women next Sunday, while Gold Coast will make the long drive up to Sunshine Coast Women.

Key Moments

7’ - CHANCE FOR GATORS - Talitha Doro finds herself in on goal but her driven effort is kept out by a nice Ellen Hepburn save.

18’ - GOAL FOR GATORS - Ruth Blackburn beats the offside trap and pokes the ball past the keeper with her first touch.

29’ - CHANCE FOR GCC - Foreman breaks free of the Gap backline but sends her shot inches wide of the bottom corner.

51’ - CHANCE FOR GATORS - Blackburn blasts a shot onto the crossbar from inside the area.

71’ - GOAL FOR GCC - Jayde Lowe loops a brilliant header just under the crossbar to pull City level.

90’ - GOAL FOR GATORS - Blackburn again needs only one touch, this time arrowing a perfect shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area after running onto a through ball.

90+1’ - CHANCE FOR GCC - Stephanie Foreman has a golden chance to add to the late drama, but her shot from a tight angle is straight at the keeper.
