The squad for the 2016 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Under 23 Select team has been confirmed ahead of their clash with Brisbane Roar.

24 players in total comprise the extended squad for the exhibition match against the Hyundai A-League powerhouse at Queensland Sports & Athletics Centre on September 24.

18 players comprise the primary squad with an additional six shadow players also part of the preparations.

A total of ten PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs are contributing players to the extended squad.

Gold Coast City and Brisbane City lead the selections to the primary 18 player squad with four players each, while PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Premiers Brisbane Strikers contribute three players.

The squad features a number of award winners and record holders from the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland competition.

In attack, the Select team features PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Golden Boot winner Benjamin Litfin from Gold Coast City as well as Mitchell Hore from Brisbane City, who holds the individual record for most goals scored in a single PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland match.

PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2015 Safe Hands Award winner Shane Viitakangas will also turn out for the team after impressing for the then-named All-Stars squad in last year’s corresponding fixture.

The defence also includes several up-and-coming talents such as Jake Marshall from Strikers and Brisbane City’s Kai Smith, who returns after appearing for the All-Stars last year.

To add an element of spice to the clash, the full squad also features a number of players with a point to prove after previously serving with Roar's youth ranks in the Foxtel National Youth League. They are Sam Cronin, Benjamin Lyvidkos, Jaiden Walker, Luke Pavlou and Samuel Sibatuara.

Gold Coast City coach Grae Piddick will guide the side, while Western Pride coach Graham Harvey has been confirmed as one of several assistant coaches as part of the squads technical staff.

The six shadow players – which feature Grand Final winners Kai Halliday and Samuel Langley from Redlands United – will be promoted to the main squad in case of injury or player unavailability.
