Tegan Riding continued her recent scoring form with a double as Eastern Suburbs FC Women saw off Gold Coast City Women 2-0 in heavy rain at Duncan McKenna Field.

Easts leading goal scorer in the current campaign, Riding struck a goal in each half as her side recorded their fourth straight win to maintain their hold on fourth place in the league standings.

City weren’t without their chances but were unable to get the better of Easts goalkeeper Anastasia Mavrick – the clean sheet Easts' eighth of the season.

City’s fourth straight defeat sees them remain sixth on the table but now eleven points adrift of the top four.

What They Said

“Weather aside I think we played very well. We tried to stick to our game plan as best as we good but second half was a bit more about preservation. The way (Gold Coast) play is much more set-up for wet weather football.” – Laura Harris, Eastern Suburbs FC Women captain

“I was really happy with the effort that the girls put in. We had a lot of attacking opportunities – better than we’ve shown in past weeks. We moved the ball around and did the things we worked on in training. Both teams had to play in the conditions and it slowed the game up a little but I don’t think it was a decisive factor to the result. “ – Jayde Lowe, Gold Coast City FC Women
