Jessica Dillon delivered a brace as The Gap FC Women farewelled departing skipper Rebecca Price with a clinical 4-0 win over Sunshine Coast FC Women at Walton Bridge Reserve.

Dillon expertly finished a well-worked team build-up to give Gators a single goal half-time lead, before striking again before the hour to lift her season’s tally to nine goals.

Megan Price and Greta Bodey then closed out the result as the Gators extended their unbeaten start to the season to 12 games and concluded a league double over Fire for a second straight season.

The result lifts the Gators eight points clear atop the league table and consigns the ninth placed Fire to a second straight defeat.

What They Said

“You can’t really prepare for the Gap. So today we went out with a defensive mindset because we knew they would control possession. Four nil really isn’t that bad when considering some of the other results the Gap have got this season. We were quite strong defensively in stages and I think that is a positive we can take away from tonight. We have just played the top two teams and we have Olympic and Easts in the next few weeks, but after that I can’t see why we can’t make a run up the ladder.” - Thomas White, Sunshine Coast FC Women Coach

“Being my last Gap home game I was pretty nervous coming into it but once I got out their it was really good especially in front of a big home crowd. After having a few weeks off it was important for us to get the fluency back, so to play that well was really encouraging. Our coach Rob Askew was happy with the performance but wants us to work on a few things in the final third especially the quality of our passing and the timing of our runs. I hope my legacy at the Gap is the culture we have built that not only develops girls football skills but one that also produces leaders in society.” - Rebecca Price, The Gap FC Women captain
