Olympic Late Show Denies Pride

Olympic FC Women scored two goals inside the final 15 minutes to see off a dogged Western Pride Women 3-1 at Briggs Road Complex.
Nikkola Dawes scored from an indirect free-kick shortly after the restart to cancel out Kirsten Jamieson’s early opener, but late strikes from Lorena Maggio and Allira Toby ended the hosts’ resistance.
Olympic led from the ninth minute courtesy of Jamieson’s 34th goal of the season only to be kept from extending their lead by former goalkeeper and current Pride captain Kirsten Veeren.
However, the two late goals extend their winning run to five matches and reduces the margin to second-placed Souths United Women to a single point.
Pride’s third home defeat of the campaign keeps the Ipswich outfit in ninth after 10 matches.

31’ – CHANCE FOR OLYMPIC – Jazmyn Perin dispossesses the Pride defence but is unable to beat Veeren in a one-on-one.

52’ – GOAL FOR PRIDE – Pride are awarded an indirect free-kick in the area after Olympic ‘keeper Katie Ronan is adjudged to have handled a back-pass. Teagan Essom touches the ball for Nikkola Dawes to smash through a crowded area and into the roof of the net.
53’ – CHANCE FOR OLYMPIC – Jamieson receives the ball at the top of the area but sees her shot crash against the crossbar.
77’ – GOAL FOR OLYMPIC – Alicia Cole’s clearance off the line falls invitingly for Lorena Maggio to produce a simple tap-in.
90’ – GOAL FOR OLYMPIC – A reaction save from Veeren falls to the feet of Toby who puts away the rebound.
