Olympic FC struck a stunning four goal second-half blitz to dismantle Northern Fury 6-1 at International Park in Ayr.

The visitors held a comfortable two goal advantage at the half courtesy of Matthew Heath and Liam O’Bryan before turning it on in the second half to post their biggest win of the season.

Heath netted his second shortly after the restart before substitute Youeil Shol effectively wrapped up the points after the hour.

Fury found consolation via Matthew Richards’ with twenty minutes remaining, however further goals to Daniel Byrne and Kazuya Ito ended any hope of an improbable comeback for the hosts.

Olympic become the first south-east Queensland team this season to take maximum points from their travels to the state’s tropical north following last week’s upset win over league leaders FNQ Heat.

Their third straight win lifts Olympic to a season’s best seventh place in the standings, while the winless Fury remain mired to the bottom rung of the ladder as they continue their club record losing streak.

What They Said

“For the young boys we need to show them not to give up and to keep going hard into tackles both in games and in training. Us senior boys can’t show that we are slackening off both on and off the pitch and giving up unless the younger boys will follow and that’s where things will fall apart.” - Jonathon Bagley, Northern Fury midfielder

“We have made a lot of changes to everything we are doing from the administration side of things to training and to the way we are playing and the players we have bought in. We are in a progressive stage from where I came in from four to five weeks ago to where we are now and it is a huge improvement and that’s what we are looking for every week.” - Terry Kirkham, Olympic FC coach
