A hat-trick from golden boot leader Kirsten Jamieson pushed Olympic FC back into the title race as they upset Eastern Suburbs FC Women 4-2 at Goodwin Park.

Jamieson’s haul – which lifts her season tally to a prolific 21 goals in just six appearances - was complemented by a first-half strike from Allira Toby as the hosts seemingly wrapped up the contest with a three goal advantage at the half.

A spirited second-half fightback saw Easts halve the margin via Ashlee Watkins and Jenna McCormick, however it wasn’t enough to prevent a second straight defeat for the Premiership hopefuls.

The win is Olympic’s first ever against Easts in PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues in three attempts and sees them move to third in the standings.

Meanwhile, Easts drop out of the top four for the first time this season after taking just a single point from their past three matches.

What They Said

“It’s always physical between our teams and there’s a bit of local rivalry I think. It was really tough and I think everyone’s going to come up a bit sore tomorrow. Especially in the fifty-fifties, they wanted it just as much as us.“ – Natalie Tathem, Olympic FC Women captain

“The first half was very disappointing. At half-time we got a bit of a talking to and we pulled together as a team. We have proved we are a team that can be there at the end of the season and be in the top two but we need to work on starting as well as we finished the second half.“ – Tegan Riding, Eastern Suburbs FC Women
