Souths United Women have comfortably extended their unbeaten run to four matches with a 10-0 mauling of Redlands United Women at Cleveland Showgrounds.

Five different scorers shared in the goal-fest with Ayesha Norrie notching four goals, Meghan McElligott and Georgia Keen posting doubles and Deeanna Thompson and Kirten McGilvray also chiming in with a goal apiece.

Forced to sit deep from the kick-off, the Red Devils could find no reply on their home turf – Souths repeatedly stifling their opponent’s to keep them scoreless for the sixth time in seven outings this season.

The win equals Souths ten goal victory over Peninsula Power earlier this year as their best ever result in PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Women’s competition.

They move to second place on the table with the remainder of the round to be concluded on Sunday, while Redlands remain without a competition point and mired to the bottom of the table.

What They Said

“There’s a lot of brilliant individual players on that team. As for the score line that’s something that we have to work on and something I don’t take to heart as a keeper. I knew coming into this team that we weren’t going to win every game and that it wasn’t going to be easy. I knew full well I was going to have a tough job. I just try to keep my head up at the end of the week. We all go back to the training paddock and we work harder.“ – Megan Byriel, Redlands United FC Women goalkeeper

“We like to use these games (to improve). If you’re going to be up then you might as well use it for training purposes as well. There is no perfect team obviously. There’s things that we can still improve and parts of the game where we didn’t do well. But we can use that to figure these things out and improve for the future. “ – Deanna Thompson, Souths United FC Women
