Olympic FC Women kept the pressure on the early season league leaders with a comfortable 2-0 win over University of Queensland FC Women at Goodwin Park.

Jazmyn Perin and Kirsten Jamieson both scored for the second week in a row prior to half-time to seal a second straight win to open their 2016 campaign.

The result sees Olympic reclaim second spot in the standings, behind league leaders Eastern Suburbs FC Women on goal difference.

It also consigns UQFC to a share of last place with Redlands United Women at the close of the second round.

Key Moments

23’ – CHANCE FOR OLYMPIC - Natalie Tathem sends a dipping effort to the top corner from 25 yards out but UQFC keeper Danielle Harbot makes a brilliant save and tips it over the bar

24’ – GOAL FOR OLYMPIC – Allira Toby’s floating corner finds Jazmyn Perin unmarked at the back post and the winger has no trouble heading home from three yards

31’ – CHANCE FOR OLYMPIC - Kirsten Jamieson puts her right boot through it from outside the box but Danielle Harbot is alert and makes a diving save to her right

45’ – GOAL FOR OLYMPIC – Toby whips the ball into the area and the bounce catches out Danielle Harbot allowing Kirsten Jamieson to pounce on the error and turn it home from close range

What They Said

“I think it was a pretty decent performance. We could’ve scored a few more and we didn’t really execute in the final third as well, but their keeper had a lot to do with that. So a good result but could’ve been more.“ – Elizabeth Doherty, Olympic FC Women

“To be honest we come out pretty happy with that performance. We played Olympic in the pre-season and struggled out a six-nil lost in that game. So we take a lot of positives out of this match. I thought second half we came out and worked on a few things and held on to a bit of possession – so lots of positives.“ – Danielle Harbot, University of Queensland FC
