Redlands United prevailed in the sole pre-season friendly on Friday night – seeing off Brisbane Premier League club Mitchelton FC.

 

 

Red Devils Recapture Pre-Season Form

REDLAND CITY | Redlands United ramped up their pre-season with a comfortable 4-0 win over Mitchelton FC at Cleveland Showgrounds.

The Red Devils dominated much of the contest and shared the goal scoring spoils between four players – Stephen Green, Igor Sao Jose, Kai Halliday and Scott Dykman.

Green opened accounts on the quarter hour after controlling a pass from Nico Bechar then converting with an angled finish.

A period of to-and-fro ensued before Redlands increasingly asserted themselves over their opponents.

The introduction of midfield talisman Graham Fyfe at half-time saw him play a hand in the final three goals – teeing up Sao Jose to rifle in a dipping effort from outside the box shortly after the restart.

A Fyfe cross was misjudged by the Mitchelton goalkeeper after the hour, allowing Green to head back across goal where the waiting Halliday tucked in the finish from close range.

Fyfe then played through Dykman to round out the result in the final quarter hour – the attacker beating the goalkeeper at his near post from the edge of the area.

A host of late chances saw winger Nico Bechar repeatedly threaten, however Mitchelton held for the remainder to prevent the scoreline from blowing out.
