PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Premiership winner Stephen Green will turn out for his former junior club Redlands United in 2016.

The attacking midfielder was a mid-season recruit for Jets as they won last year’s Premiership and Grand Final, playing a crucial role with five goals in 11 league appearances.

However, the 21-year-old is now eager to settle in for the longer term on the southern end of Moreton Bay at the club he started playing for as an Under 8.

“I’ve always seen myself as a Redlands player from way back in my junior days and I started my football career there,” Green said.

He added, “I don’t like changing teams, especially so often. Last year I left Logan (Lightning) which was a big decision and then I had to make another big decision about going to Redlands.”

“I had a good chat to (Redlands Technical Director) Matt Chandler and did my research. I spoke to some of the players and I think it was a well informed decision. I didn’t take it lightly.”

Green said despite last year's success, the demands of travelling from one end of Moreton Bay to another ultimately proved too demanding.

“I only live just a few kilometres away from the clubhouse down here at Redlands. It took me about 50 minutes to travel up to Moreton Bay and with work it was just getting too hectic.”

Green said he was looking forward to helping his new club build on their best ever PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland finish in 2015 and perhaps again challenge for the title.

“It’s a different sort of team (to Jets) but I will be similar in my game style and I really want to see what I can do after a full season in the NPL and see how I stack up.”

“But it’s all well and good for me to have a great season but it’s really all about how the team goes. For me to shine I need the whole team to shine and, if that happens, then we should be there or thereabouts,” he concluded.

The Red Devils play their first pre-season friendly on Thursday night against near-neighbours Capalaba FC.
