Redlands United have revealed former Olympique Lyonnais player Emilie Rochelet as the first addition to their PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Women’s squad.

The 31-year-old central midfielder, who last played for Rockhampton-based community club Berserker, joins the Red Devils as they embark on their first PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Women’s season following the reinstatement of the club’s participation licence.

Rochelet will also impart her previous experiences playing at the highest level of women’s football in her native France as coach of the club’s Under 13 Girls team and SAP and Academy programs.

She recently completed her coaching C Licence through Football Queensland and has been identified as an exciting coaching prospect.

Redlands Womens coach John Blanco said he was delighted to add Rochelet’s experience to the team in his first season in charge.

“She’s been at a big club like Lyon and hopefully we can learn from what she has experienced and bring it to Redlands in her coaching role and as a player,” Blanco explained.

“We will have a young squad and it will be important to have an older head like Emilie in the centre of the park,” he concluded.
