SWQ Thunder have confirmed the appointment of Salvatore Sottile as the club’s new Technical Director.

A release from the club stated that Sottile will oversee Thunder’s player and coach development program across the club’s PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland teams.

Sotille previously served in the same role at rival PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland club Moreton Bay United for the past three seasons before Adam Piddick took over the role at Jets last month.

He said his priority was to continue the club’s role as a pathway to professional and elite football for players in the greater South-West region and strengthen relationships with coaches at local clubs.

“My aim is to build strong football development through the whole region by also supporting other clubs in the area,” Sotille explained.

He added that he was also looking forward to working with recently appointed Senior Men’s coach Chris McLeod in continuing the process of developing the club’s Senior Men's team in the national second tier competition - who are without a win following two PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland campaigns.

“The club has very strong juniors, and we now look to extend that into senior football,” Sottile said.

“I am excited to have the recently appointed Chris McLeod on board for the 2016 season.”

“I want to provide him with as much support as possible in strengthening our Senior Men’s team to be consistently competitive in this competition,” he concluded.

Sotille commences the position immediately and replaces previous Thunder Technical Director Joe Fenech in the role, who recently joined Thunder’s PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland rivals Olympic FC.
