Palm Beach SC goalkeeper Bianca Warrener has been called in to the PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland Women’s Select squad to replace the injured Renee Rudder.

Rudder’s withdrawal from Sunday’s match against Brisbane Roar’s Westfield W-League side at means Warrener joins Olympic FC teenager Katie Ronan in the Women’s Select goalkeeping contingent.

Warrener played an integral role in helping Sharks to the Grand Final this season, keeping eight clean sheets as the Gold Coast side conceded an average of a goal a game throughout the regular season.

PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland Women’s Select Goalkeeper Coach Dani Harbot, herself a regular for UQFC this season, has full confidence in Warrener’s ability to adapt.

“I’ve seen Bianca play over the last few years in the (Gold Coast) Premier League and now the NPL and I think her improvement has been substantial,” Harbot said.

“It’s going to be really good to see her take this opportunity.”

Warrener’s call-up continues a run of good news for PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland goalkeepers, with 16-year-old Ronan currently training with Roar and The Gap’s Noran Abaza potentially pulling on orange this weekend.

Harbot – who recently earned an invite to coach at an FFA National Goalkeeping Camp – believes the recognition of locals is well deserved.

“We have lots of depth in our goalkeepers. We have quite a few younger ones coming up, Katie Ronan is a really good example,” she said.

“We obviously have quite a few goalkeepers trialling with Roar at the moment and also a couple of goalkeepers from our NPL trialling at other W-League clubs which is really great to see.”
