FNQ Heat’s Nick Mooney and Cameron Nucifora agree their PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland U23 All-Stars debut against Brisbane Roar will rival this year’s Westfield FFA Cup involvement.

Saturday’s match at QSAC will act as a curtain raiser to the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Finals Series clash between Moreton Bay United and Edgeworth Eagles.

Mooney (pictured) and Nucifora both appeared for Heat against Oakleigh Cannons in the Round of 32 and will add to that experience with another showpiece fixture.

Nucifora tipped the occasion to be an equally heightened affair.

“I reckon this will be just as a big, if not bigger,” the midfielder said.

“We came up against some pretty big names playing Oakleigh but playing the Roar will be something similar.

“Everyone is just really keen.”

Goalkeeper Mooney is one of the youngest selections in the squad but, courtesy of his Cup experience and a full PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland campaign, will be as well prepared as any to make an impact.

The teenager believes taking on the three-time Hyundai A-League champions is an ideal career launching pad.

“That definitely is the target. I’m sure everyone wants to enjoy the experience, but everyone does have the goal of getting picked up by John Aloisi,” Mooney said.

“It’s really an incredible chance to go up against some of the best players in Australia and showcase ourselves to potential clubs.”

Roar have included stars Thomas Broich and Michael Theo in their squad for what will be the side’s penultimate pre-season outing.

Mooney hopes his attempts to keep out high-quality opposition will catch the eye of potential scouts.

“To keep a clean sheet would be an absolute dream, especially against the Roar,” he said.

“As a keeper you can only really do your best. Hopefully I can showcase myself and impress the selectors.”
