SWQ Thunder Women’s trio Tiffany Dibley, Jessica Broadfoot and Rosanna Berry claimed the major Women’s honours at the club’s annual presentation dinner last week.

The awards were held at Rumours International Convention Centre in Toowoomba and saw presentations across all of the club’s PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland teams.

Dibley was recognised as the Senior Women’s side’s outstanding contributor for the 2015 campaign and received the Most Valuable Player award.

The 17-year-old left full-back made 20 appearances for the club in 2015, scoring two goals.

Thunder Women’s Coach Craig Burgess said Dibley’s dedication and skill set a shining example to the squad throughout the campaign.

“She was the most consistent player for the whole year at training and as well as games - she never missed a beat,” Burgess said.

Goalkeeper Jessica Broadfoot received the Player’s Player Award, voted for by her teammates in recognition of her contributions throughout the season.

“She had only ever played local football before and came straight into the senior side. It was a difficult transition to step up to such a high level but she improved as the season went on and succeeded in bettering herself every week,” Burgess explained.

Burgess also highlighted 18-year-old right winger Rosanna Berry, who received the Coach’s Award, as another player who had reaped the rewards of hard-work after stepping up from local community competition.

“Rosie continually moved upwards and didn’t stagnant at all this season. She was off the pace at the start of the year but once she got her head around it she kept improving every week,” he said.

Burgess said despite finishing the season in ninth place and facing the challenges of maintain a squad in a regional area, Thunder was seeing the results of PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland participation for its female footballers in all age levels.

“This year was harder than last year and the competition was a lot harder. We were tested for the majority of the season in terms of squad depth,” he concluded.
