Olympic FC have announced that Joe Fenech will replace Gabor Ganczer as Technical Director at the club for the PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland 2016 season.

The highly respected Fenech previously served as Technical Director at SWQ Thunder and was Senior Men's Head Coach of CQFC Energy and interim coach of FNQ Heat in 2013.

Amongst Fenech’s first tasks is overseeing PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland trials across the clubs age groups in preparation for the 2016 season and refining existing programs for girl's and women's football at the club.

Fenech, who holds a UEFA ‘A’ Licence, explained another priority is strengthening the relationship between parents and coaching staff for the club’s juniors.

“I’m looking forward to having an information night with parents so they get to know who I am, what I am about and more importantly what the club is about and share the vision,” Fenech said.

“It’s important everybody is rowing in the same direction. Any player that is part of Olympic FC, whether they are five years old or 30 years old, it’s important to me personally they enjoy the experience and we make them the best possible player they can be.”

The departing Ganczer had served as Olympic’s Technical Director for the past three PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland seasons after joining the club in 2012.

He said he was proud of the legacy he had provided the club in that time.

“Under my directorship our technical staff built up an Academy, a Skill Acquisition Program and a National Premier Leagues program for boys and girls," Ganczer explained.

“We provided growth opportunity for 56 young footballers to play at state or national level from FQ representative squads to A-League clubs and national teams, making the club the highest achiever in Queensland," he concluded.

Olympic FC President Peter Ioannidis thanked Ganczer for his contributions to the club.

“His valued ideas have helped establish Olympic FC as one of Queensland’s premier clubs over the course of his tenure,” Ioannidis said.

“We thank Gabor for his dedication and wish him and his family the best for the future,” he concluded.

In further coaching restructuring for 2016, the club confirmed the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Senior Men’s Head Coach will additionally oversee squad selection for the Youth Men’s and U18 Boys.

Jim Bellas has served as Olympic Senior Men’s Head Coach for the past three PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland seasons - guiding the team to the 2013 Premiership-Championship double, two Grand Finals and three consecutive Finals Series appearances.
