Young Olympic FC striker Dylan Wenzel-Halls wants to take the game to Moreton Bay United in Saturday’s Semi-Final at Wolter Park.

Wenzel-Halls has solidified his place as a regular squad member for the 2013 Champions this term, notching his second senior goal away to Northern Fury last month.

The 17-year-old believes a confidence-boosting final-round win over Western Pride has primed Olympic for their tilt at reaching a third straight Grand Final.

“We haven’t had very good form coming up to the last game but we played well against Pride and scored a few goals,” Wenzel-Halls said.

“Hopefully we can do the same against Moreton Bay – get a few goals early.”

Alongside fellow teenage attacker Youeil Shol, who grabbed a brace against Pride, Wenzel-Halls is preparing for his maiden PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland Finals Series campaign.

The U23 All-Stars nominee believes Olympic’s next generation is suitably prepared for the intensity of finals football.

“I think we’re ready to make the step-up,” Wenzel-Halls said.

“Slowly, obviously, not going straight into it and starting numerous games but I think gradually getting into the game and getting more minutes we should be fine.

“Hopefully off the bench I’ll get a few minutes, do my job and play well. Make an impact.”

The ledger between Jets and Olympic sits at one win apiece this season as the latter atoned for an opening-round 3-2 loss by prevailing 4-2 at Goodwin Park in May.

Wenzel-Halls isn’t concerned about visiting the Premiers first-up for a place in the decider given what he expects to be a tight post-season.

“The second game we played really well, I thought - we finished the chances we had,” he said of the Round 12 victory.

“Either way, it’s finals now, so no matter who we are drawn against it will be a tough game. But we’re certainly ready for it.”
