Moreton Bay United coach Adam Piddick admits tonight’s top-of-the-table clash with Brisbane Strikers is a big match but it will not decide the Jets’ season.

Jets are looking to record their first win against Strikers this season at Wolter Park - with three points for either team ensuring they finish the round atop the PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland standings.

While Piddick conceded the result will be important he was quick to add that it alone will not decide the Premiership race.

“This is a big one,” Piddick said, “Strikers realistically have to come and beat us. But there’s still a lot to play for after this game.

“We try to go out to win every game and there are no desperate measures to change. We’ll do what we’ve been doing all year.”

Jets have led the competition since Round 3 and currently hold a two point advantage over Strikers with an additional game in hand.

Last weekend Jets saw off a late charge from Brisbane City to record a valuable three away points after less than convincing performances in recent weeks - including a single goal home win over the winless SWQ Thunder.

Piddick said of his side’s win over City, “I thought in the second half we were almost back to our best and it was very important to get back to that.”

Piddick, who was previously part of the Strikers coaching staff before taking the helm at Jets this season, admitted that Jets’ Premiership rivals remain a formidable outfit.

“Strikers are probably the biggest team in this league with all their infrastructure and the opportunities,” Piddick explained.

“We are still very young as a club and everyone involved should be very proud of what has been achieved."

“But we still have some way to go and things to achieve to be consistently challenging for the title,” he concluded.

Jets will be buoyed by the expected return of dynamic midfielder Stephen Green for the clash.
