UQFC Women moved back into the top four with a 7-0 win over SWQ Thunder Women at University of Queensland Field 5 on Sunday.

Greta Bodey grabbed a treble to leave the hosts in an enviable position on the ladder with six home matches still to come, while Thunder are unmoved in ninth.

Georgia Chapman ensured there would be no ongoing damage from last week's home defeat to The Gap Women by netting an early opener and Chloe Williams added a second 15 minutes later, shooting into the top corner off her left.

UQFC were struggling to create chances despite controlling possession, although they still managed to take a 3-0 lead into the break when Bodey headed home Chapman’s free-kick.

Thunder found more rhythm early in the second half but were unable to test goalkeeper Dani Harbot with little more than harmless efforts from distance.

Their improved defensive efforts were brought undone with an own goal after the hour and it was 5-0 when Amy Ingram tucked home Bodey’s cutback.

Ingram and Bodey again combined in the 77th minute for the latter to add a sixth before striker Bodey completed her hattrick and capped the scoring 10 minutes from time.

Speaking after the match, UQFC ‘keeper Dani Harbot described the result as owing to an all-round team performance.

“I think in some of our previous matches we’ve played good football in patches whereas tonight it was really good to get out and play 90 minutes of good football,” Harbot said.
