Fire To Face Noosa In Cup

Sunshine Coast FC will now face Noosa Lions in the Westfield FFA Cup following a Football Queensland Disciplinary Committee ruling, it has been confirmed.
Fire were originally slated to face third-tier McDonald’s Premier League outfit Kawana SC last week, however Kawana have now been expelled from this year’s Westfield FFA Cup after it was determined the club fielded a player without international transfer certificate in their previous round win against Lions.
In accordance with Westfield FFA Cup Competition Rules, Lions will now take Kawana’s place in the Sunshine Coast Zone Qualifying Round 5 match against Fire.
The match will determine the final Sunshine Coast club in the Westfield FFA Cup draw.
Fire currently sit fourth in the PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland standings, but have lost their past three outings in the league including a 2-1 last start defeat against lower-table Brisbane City.
By contrast, Lions are in third place in the McDonald’s Premier League and have won six of their ten matches so far this season ahead of a scheduled weekend tie against Coolum FC.
The winner of the Fire-Lions clash will advance to meet United Warriors from the Wide Bay Qualifying Zone in the next round.
The victor in that subsequent match will then meet the winner of this Saturday’s SWQ Thunder and Palm Beach SC tie for a place in the national Round of 32.
