Dykes Eager To Make His Mark

Redlands United recruit Lyndon Dykes is eager to continue his promising start to life at the bayside club against Brisbane City tonight.

The 19-year-old former Australian National School Boys representative linked up with the Red Devils from third-tier Football Gold Coast BLK Premier League side Merrimac.

The short stint on the glitter strip followed a seven month spell for the young striker with Scottish second-tier outfit Queen of the South.

While still awaiting to open his goal tally in PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland, Dykes has proved a lively addition to the Redlands squad and proved instrumental in their recent 2-0 upset over Olympic FC in the Westfield FFA Cup.

Dykes said he was excited by the challenge of helping turn around Redlands’ slow start to the 2015 campaign, which sees the club sitting tenth in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland standings.

“I’ve been at Merrimac for a couple of months and they are a great team but I’m ready for a new challenge,” Dykes explained.

“I want to better my football and to do that I need the challenge that Redlands can offer.”

“I’m going to try my best for the team this season and I'd like to think we can go pretty far together.”

He added that the Red Devil’s attacking philosophy suits his own forthright approach to playing the game.

“I like going forward to attack and being more direct on goal,” Dykes said.

“We have talented attack force at Redlands with Nico (Bechar) and Fyfey (player-coach Graham Fyfe) and some of the other boys and I really enjoy playing here,” he concluded.

Both Redlands and City will be looking to record their first wins of the league tonight at Cleveland Showgrounds. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00PM.
