Palm Beach SC face a tricky away fixture in their first Westfield FFA Cup hit-out of 2015 against the in-form Broadbeach United.

Details of the Gold Coast Zone Qualifying Round 5 fixture were confirmed today by Football Gold Coast in a random draw, with Sharks travelling the short distance to Broadbeach’s home ground at Nikiforides Family Park on Tuesday, May 12.

The winner will be the last team standing in the nationwide knock-out competition from the Gold Coast region.

Defending PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland Premiers, Palm Beach, were the last Queensland club remaining in last year’s inaugural Westfield FFA Cup, proceeding to the Quarter Final stage before being eliminated by Hyundai A-League powerhouse Central Coast Mariners.

Sharks have made a steady but unspectacular start to their league title defence in 2015 and currently sit seventh in the standings, with three wins from their opening six fixtures.

Broadbeach United compete in the Football Gold Coast’s third-tier BLK Premier League and are the competition’s form team in 2015 - winning their opening seven games of the season and boasting a six point lead atop the eight-team table.

However, Sharks will benefit from their intra-club coaching network, with their own BLK Premier League community side falling to Broadbeach 3-1 in March.

The winner of Gold Coast Zone Qualifying Round 5 will advance to face the victor of the South West Queensland Zone Qualifying Round 5 match between PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland club South West Queensland Thunder and Football Toowoomba Premier Men’s outfit West Wanderers.
