Brisbane Strikers goalkeeper Michael Turnbull has signed with Hyundai A-League club Melbourne Victory on an injury replacement contract the club announced today.

Turnbull, who previously played in the highest levels of European club football with AS Roma and Standard Liege and also represented Australia with the Olyroos, joins the league-leading Victory after injury ruled first-choice goalkeeper Nathan Coe out of the Hyundai A-League 2015 Finals Series.

The 34-year-old shot-stopper joined Strikers midway through the PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland 2014 season, and returned to national attention following impressive performances in the Westfield FFA Cup.

Strikers boast an equal-best defensive return of seven goals conceded so far this season with Turnbull between the posts.

It is expected that Turnbull will serve as primarily as a back-up at Victory behind second-string goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas.

Turnbull previously played in the Hyundai A-League with the now defunct New Zealand Knights in 2007.

Turnbull has already landed in Melbourne and will not be part of tonight's clash against Olympic FC.
