Goals will be on the agenda when Western Pride Women meet Peninsula Power Women in the final match of the round at Briggs Road Complex.

Both teams have signalled their intentions to tackle the new PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland season with an attack-first approach.

While her expectations are for a top six finish, Pride coach Lorena Maggio says silverware isn’t out of the question for the Ipswich outfit.

“I expect us to be a threat,” Maggio said.

“We have talented players and there’s no reason we can’t win the competition.”

A former Westfield W-League player with Adelaide United, Maggio is making no secret of her side’s intent to attack.

“We’re an attacking team,” she said.

“We’re going to try to score a lot of goals.”

Power coach Allan Waller predicted a similarly positive mindset from his side as the Kippa-Ring club prepares for its entry into PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues competition.

After finishing ninth in Football Brisbane’s SEQ Women’s Premier League last year, Power have identified a clinical edge as crucial to their hopes.

“My philosophy is that attack is the best form of defence,” Waller said.

“We need to ensure we have a goalscorer who can regularly score goals in tight games.”

Kick off at Briggs Road Complex on Sunday is at 6.00pm.
